The Dance Tent has always been the beating heart of Brighton Pride, this is where we celebrate. The dancefloor has always been a place where people come together to feel love, from the days of Paradise Garage in NY to pioneering club movements including Brighton’s own beloved Wild Fruit Sunday pilgrimage. The Dance Tent is the yearly culmination of this spirit, where love is love, and that inimitable energy, when 8000 people join together to dance in Pride, is palpable in the air.
As Brighton Pride has developed, so too the Dance Tent has grown, once our chapel, now a cathedral, a production packed Big Top where we join together to create some of our best memories (who remembers Dolly Rocket on a cherry picker?). DJs bring us the soundtrack to our lives, past, present and future; Toby Lawrence, Mikalis, Alpha & Lola, Brighton’s finest house providers who move our feet all year round, are joined by some very special guests who have been a part of the city’s clubbing history – Seamus Haji, Fat Tony, Maze&Masters and Paul Heron. This year, fresh from festivals like Ultra, Arenal Sound, Coca Cola Music, Barcelona Beach festival and many more, we are also thrilled to welcome international sensations The Tripletz… surely the darlings of all things social and the hottest thing to come out of Spain since chorizo!
This year they are joined by legendary vocalist Tonnic, famed for her live house freestyle jams at the iconic Trade parties, and tent hosts and dance collective Little Gay Brother. From Secret Garden Party, Lovebox, Meadows in the Mountains, elrow Town & Boomtown Festivals to their own monthly raves at London’s Omeara, the Little Gay Brothers ARE the energy.
So get ready to lose track of time, of place (we’re be by the second pillar on the right), but to gain aching cheeks and feet, new friends and new old friends, as we march, and we dance.
