3rd-5th AUGUST 2018
The Pride Festival in Preston Park was the gem in our proud weekend of celebrations with tens of thousands dancing, partying and celebrating in the sunshine to a truly awe inspiring line-up of international pop stars, DJs, entertainers and artists. From the moment the gates opened at 12 noon love was most certainly in the air as our amazingly diverse LGBT+ community and allies came together to party with Pride.
Headliners the Pet Shop Boys delivered a spectacular finale to the day with a dazzling display of pop cool, queer anthems and super stylish performance. From Go West to West End Girls they had Pride in their hearts. With thri 6 rainbow glittered dancers, Years & Years were pop perfection earning the love and admiration of all those lucky enough to be part of their life affirming performance, with everyone falling for Ollie’s joyful charm whilst Louisa Johnson, Becky Hill, M.O, Fickle Friends and KStewart made sure the rainbow flags were flying high with their energetic mix of pop hedonism.
Wild Fruit’s Summer Of Love Dance Tent ensured we were all family as the legendary DJ David Morales joined Jocelyn Brown, Angie Brown, Rozalla, Seamus Haji, Prok & Fitch, Fat Tony and a host of local deck heroes including Dulcie Danger and Maze & Masters for a goose-bump filled clubbing experience, whilst Lola Lasagne and her band of merry queens delivered drag perfection in the Legends Cabaret Big Top. The Shelia McWattie Women’s Performance Tent, One Family Diversity Area, Urban World Dance Tent, Bears & Men’s Tent, Diva World Girl’s Dance Tent, Trans Tent, Well Being Field, Pride’s ground-breaking Access Area where Accessibility Matters, and the amazing Community Village ensured every taste was catered for as fun, bouncing bpms, laughter and Pride brought our community together for a truly magical day in Preston Park.
A fundraiser like no other Brighton Pride Festival 2017 was the best yet; a day where the smiles were as sparkling as the sequins on the drag queens and the love was as genuine as the warmth we all felt for each other on the park. A true day for our diverse and amazing community, it was a day that will forever have a place in our hearts. Hearts made proud thanks to Brighton Pride Festival 2017.
