We simply can’t express just how excited we are to be bringing you the Rainbow Run 5k again this year after the success and fun we had with the previous two! With each year getting bigger and better than the last this one is going to be dynamite! For those of you who are new to the Rainbow Run, it’s basically the most fun you can have while doing a 5k run or walk. With an ever popular Disco theme, we want you to come along and have the time of your life with your friends and family, everyone is welcome no matter your age or fitness levels. It takes place on the Preston Park Park run circuit which is basically flat aside from a small slope at one end, but just remember what goes up, must come down!

We will be kick starting the days events by gathering at the start line at 11:30 which will be right by the café in the North end of the park. There will be a short fun filled warm up just to get your juices flowing while listening to the best Disco soundtrack you could wish for! By 12:00 noon we will be fully limbered up and ready to start the best 5k you’ll ever do. Every kilometre we will have fancy dress stations where you’ll have a Disco themed item of clothing or accessory to put on so by the end you’ll be fully Discoed up and ready to continue the party with some of the other events happening in the park over the course of the day.

For non runners this is a perfect way to introduce yourself to doing a 5k as the course is not too challenging, with the added bonus of entertainment and bundles of fun thrown in!

But, for some of the more seasoned runners out there you may already know that it’s a basically flat course and prime for getting your next PB. The only challenge is managing to get your Disco kit on without slowing yourself down too much!

All participants receive a special Rainbow Run race medal and there are prizes for the first male and first female to cross the line.

The awards presentations will be made at the Pride Fun Sport’s Day in Preston Park on Sunday 24th July 2016, which includes loads of fun competitions such as a tug-of-war and egg ‘n spoon races, plus lots of sporting activities. Make sure you book accommodation early and stay for the weekend!
