There was nowhere in the UK like Brighton Pride’s 2017 Pride Village Party. A two day extravaganza of music, DJs, clubbing and live cabaret, it was a wonder to behold as the streets were closed to traffic and filled with the smiling of faces of tens of thousands of Pride-goers. A real treat for the eyes and ears it became our home for two days, where old friendships rekindled, new friendships formed, wiggles were had, lovers found and a lifetime of memories were made.
The rainbow flags dominated the skyline as St James’s Street and Marine Parade become the most sought after party destination with every venue, café, bar and business joining together to create two days of fundraising fabulousness. The sun shone, the smiles radiated and the dancing continued into the early hours as we came together for an unforgettable weekend of Pride celebrations.
Attitude free and sound tracked by the best of DJs and performers, the 2017 Pride Village Party was a life affirming event as hands were raised in the air to celebrate LGBT+ Pride. Be it the drag queens and glittering cabaret stars delivering giggles and gasps outside The Queens Arms and on Legends’ Terrace or the amazing line-up of world class DJs delighting the many thousands dancing in the street, there was something for everyone to enjoy as we all got down to Pride’s perfect summer groove.
And with its heart solely focussed on fundraising for The Rainbow Fund, Social impact Fund and local LGBT and HIV/ AID groups it really was a party we can all be proud of. A party we were all part of as we brought more joy to Pride’s Festival weekend. It was a weekend we all felt the love for the city we call home, be it forever or just those two glorious Pride Village Party days in August 2017 where we all become one proud family.
