Applications for the 2020 Brighton Pride LGBTQ+ Community Parade are now OPEN!

The annual Pride Community Parade is the biggest and most exciting visual event in Brighton & Hove’s calendar bringing the whole community out on to the city’s streets as over 400,000 people participate and watch the spellbinding spectacular of our hugely successful “Carnival Of Diversity” as it winds it way through the city centre.

Participants have included Brighton Pride’s partners and sponsors, local community groups, representatives from political parties and faith groups, the NHS, Brighton Housing Trust, Sussex Police, Sussex Fire services, the Girl Guides, Scouts, trade unions, along side major corporate brands showing their support for diversity, and a sensational selection of performers, musicians and artists including costumier extraordinaire Mandinga Arts, Brighton community choirs, Dance Companies, Raw Samba and Samba Pelo Mar.

We are thrilled to announce that, in celebration of our 30th anniversary, the LGBTQ+ Community Parade theme for 2020 will be ‘Back To The Future’.

Building on last year’s ‘We Stand Together’ campaign, a celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall uprising that ignited the global Pride movement, and as a reaffirmation of our commitment to campaign for global LGBTQ+ equality, ‘Back To The Future’ will celebrate the pioneering activists of our past as well as looking to the Future and the continued strive for equality for LGBTQ people across the world.

The ‘Back To The Future’ theme encourages intergenerational conversation and a recognition of the heroes and icons that paved the way for the rights we have today, and we will continue to raise vital funds for our local LGBTQ+ and community projects.

Let’s make 2020 Fabuloso!
This year there will be a judging panel of local creatives and dignitaries awarding prizes in categories such as Best Creative, Best Costumes, Best Use Of Recycled Materials, Best Global LGBTQ+ Theme etc. A full list of categories will be published in the Pride magazine.

Each year we are really excited to see some of the innovative and spectacular creations you come up with to interpret our theme and whilst on every other weekend of the year a feather boa and a rainbow wig will suffice, for Pride 2020 we are really hoping you pull out all the stops and blow our socks off!
