This information is for Pride 2015 – please check back soon for 2016 updates.
The new Pride Family Diversity Area will be the beating heart of any family’s proud day out in Preston Park. A fun packed family event, the Pride Family Diversity Area will be an alcohol free zone for families to safely enjoy Pride in. And with so much entertainment lined-up for children, it’s guaranteed that Pride 2015 will be filled with fun times.
Get your face painted by young and talented local artists, then come and jump on the bouncy castle and have a sing-a-long on the karaoke machine. Play against your friends on the giant dominoes, Connect 4 and Jenga, and enjoy a game of table tennis, table football and more!
Live entertainment planned for the day include Potty Pete the Pirate, a hilarious balloon making magician, an amazing circus workshop as well as the Junk4Funk workshop , where children and adults can join in recycling cereal boxes, egg cartons and more to make musical instruments.
The Pride Family Diversity Area will also include an extensive arts and crafts tent. There will have volunteers to help everyone make wands, crowns, swords, suncatchers, window decorations, garden ornaments, jewellery, clay monsters and more. Make sock puppets and then put on a puppet show with your friends. Learn how to make and do thumbprint animals, mirror image string printing, butterflies, animals and flowers, all to take home as a souvenir of your fabulous Pride day.
There will lots of fun different quizzes, competitions, treasure hunts and scavenger hunts for children and teenagers to partake in, plus great prizes to be won. Take funny photos in the photo booths with silly props and bring home memories from your great Pride day out.
Older children can enjoy plenty of fun activities too with the ‘selfie scavenger hunt’, quizzes and competitions, and much more.
To end the day there will be a Rainbow Kids Disco, organised by Rainbow Families!
Children can also enjoy the Preston Play-Park, which is included in the Pride Family Diversity Area.
Children must be supervised at all times, but there will also be areas for parents to sit down and relax!
Lunch Positive will serve affordable, tasty and healthy food nearby and there are plenty of other food outlets on Preston Park to keep your hunger at bay.
