The singer/songwriter James Byron grew up in Leicester in a small midlands village, at a young age he began expressing himself though dance and music however in his teens James began to isolate himself due to bullying at school and during this period he picked up a guitar, started writing songs about his life and experiences as an LGBT individual and playing in bands with his close friends, this was the outlet that gave James the power to create in his own unique and cathartic way, taking influences from punk and later blues and soul, he went onto study vocals and guitar at Leicester college for 4 years and then later at The Brighton Institute of Music.
After experimenting with music and his androgynous image he began playing open mic nights which led him to be scouted by The voice in 2014, he would go onto perform 3 songs on Will.I.ams team, up until the Knockout rounds. After the Voice James began working on music with his band Outcry and they released a song for cancer research in 2015 which raised over £1,500.
James Is currently a solo acoustic act taking influence from Janis Joplin, Lucinda Williams and many other rock and blues artists, his sets is raw, honest and backed by a powerful voice and stripped down guitar. He hopes to release his first debut EP this year in Brighton.
